Perplexity AI + Shopify = Bitcoin in 2015. Don't Sleep On It.

In partnership with

Hello Champs,

The BCFM madness is upon us, so I’ll keep today’s edition short and simple so you can get back to winning those customers.

If you’re new to Sellify Club, you’re getting this because you signed up for one of our Shopify store improvement apps. I’m Ada, and my aim is to help you improve your sales by 1% each week.

Here’s what we have for you this week:

  • Perplexity AI + Shopify + You, Early Mover = No Regrets.

  • Growth hack: creative testing

  • Weekly challenge

  • Trending product: wide-toe shoes

What’s New?

Last week, Perplexity AI launched its new AI-powered shopping assistant, designed to help its 50 million monthly users (15 million active) research and purchase products.

Let’s not go into all the bells and whistles that customers get with Perplexity as this is not an ad for them (if you’re curious, check the official press release, CEO’s tweets, or user-generated content)

What gets my attention as a Shopify store owner is that the platform integrates with Shopify and allows users to make “one-click purchases” without leaving the interface. This means that store owners like you and I can skip the advertising acrobatics and put our products directly in front of customers.

Now here’s where it gets really interesting - how does Perplexity choose what stores to show its users?

A simple, free signup form. No merchant account center to set up. No ad accounts (yet!) Just a 5-minute form to potentially get access to a 50m audience. Sign up here (or scroll to the bottom of the press release to sign up)

Growth Hack: Creative Testing

When trying to get heard in the saturated online advertising marketplace, creative diversity in large volumes (aka testing lots of different creatives) is something that top media buying experts all agree on.

Why?

Consumer behavior has evolved. Buyers are now research ninjas—they check websites, reviews, and even ask friends before hitting “Add to Cart.” Seeing one ad once doesn’t cut it anymore.

You now need to test different “hooks” and “angles” with each audience repeat exposure and also to figure out what sticks.

And serious brands take this seriously.

For example, Magnetme (our last week’s SEO superstar case study) tested 11 creatives between November 21st and 22nd, with variations in copy, graphics, and CTAs.

So, how do you create multiple creatives quickly when creating even one graphic or video takes a ridiculous amount of time?

Thankfully, we live in a world where generative AI makes this possible, admittedly by even Meta itself. This means that Meta won’t penalize your ads for using AI in the same way that Google penalizes sites for using AI content.

60-Minute Challenge

Take 60 minutes this week to increase your creative testing capacity.

  • Create at least three alternatives for your top-performing ones.

  • Use AI to write ad copy and design creative in minutes.

If you don’t know where to start, AdCreative.ai is a simple, quick tool for this. It does exactly what it says on the tin, plus the current BFCM deal means you pay only $2/ creative for up to 10 creatives. You also get access to a $2499 Masterclass (not sure we know anyone who paid that) but nevertheless, it’s free!

Wide-toe shoes are designed for people with bunions, hammertoes, or anyone who loves a bit of extra wiggle room. These shoes have become popular for helping people with foot pain find relief.

One popular wide-toe show brand generates $121K/month on Amazon

How you can leverage this trend

  • Test other products in this category, e.g toe-spacers (376% more searches in five years), or bunion correctors.

  • Offer specialized wide-toe foot care bundles
