More sales, less effort | Google Shopping's pricing update
Happy Tuesday, Shopify trailblazers!
Apologies for the late delivery of this week’s newsletter. Without further ado, here’s your weekly dose of eCommerce gold.
Today, we’re talking about a quick way to increase your profits, the latest Google update, and a high-ticket trend that’s literally drying up the competition.
Here’s what’s inside today’s edition:
Google’s New Pricing Update
Growth Hack: Maximize profits on low-ticket items with subscriptions
Weekly Challenge: Set up an upsell subscription
Trending Product: The $315K/month Stone Bath Mat boom
Google’s Pricing Update: More Visibility (& )Conversions for Discounts
Google just made it easier for online stores to feature discounts and sales right in search results through Google Merchant Center. For you, this means more eyeballs on your deals, more clicks, and more conversions.
I tested this with a search for “cashmere scarf”, and here’s what’s new in the Google Shopping section.

Display your sale items directly in search results pages like Moss does
More structured pricing info in Google Search
Aligns with Google Merchant Center for seamless integration
This matters because shoppers love discounts, and now they can see them before they even click your store. That means higher intent traffic and fewer abandoned carts.
BTW, if you need guidance on using AI to turbo boost your marketing strategy, try out the Marketing Alec newsletter (no pressure - try it and feel free to opt-out anytime if it’s not for you)
What you should do next:
Follow Google’s guidelines to
🔹 Update your structured data markup to include sale & member pricing
🔹 If you run a loyalty program, make sure discounted pricing appears in search
🔹 Use Google Merchant Center to maximize your product visibility
Pro tip: Test out strikethrough pricing (showing the original price next to the sale price like Moss did)… to trigger FOMO and increase conversion
💡 Growth Hack: Make Low-Ticket Products More Profitable with Subscriptions

If you’re selling low-cost products, your margins might be thinner than your patience on a Monday morning. But there’s a fix: upsell subscriptions.
You can turn a $10 item into a $100 customer by offering a subscribe & save discount (Amazon does it, and so should you)
For example, a Shopify store selling pet treats added a "monthly auto-ship" option →, resulting in a 37% boost in revenue and higher customer retention.
Stamped gamifies this by using strategies (called “Plays”) to make these more fun and interactive for your customers.
🏆 Weekly Challenge: Set Up an Upsell Subscription

If you have 60 minutes this week, set up a subscription upsell on your store.
Use Stamped to make the process smoother by creating a one-click post-purchase upsell to pitch your subscription. In the example above, your customers get automatic emails/SMS messages when they are most likely to subscribe, containing a pre-populated cart containing all the products they are likely to order on subscription (all AI-predicted)
If you’d like to give it a whirl, try Stamped here

🔥 Trending Product: The $315K/Month Stone Bath Mat Boom
Forget soggy bath rugs. Stone Bath Mats are taking over the self-care market, pulling in $315K/month on Amazon.
Why they’re blowing up:
✔ Quick-drying & antimicrobial (no mold, no maintenance)
✔ Minimalist aesthetic (pairs with today’s trending home decor styles)
✔ “Luxury spa experience” at home – perfect for self-care enthusiasts
How to cash in on this trend:
- Dropship or white-label your own stone bath mats
- Bundle it with other trending luxury shower accessories (like silicone loofahs or filtered shower heads)
- Run TikTok UGC ads – these mats have insane visual appeal when water instantly disappears on them
Bonus Tip: Create a before & after video showing how stone bath mats dry instantly vs. a regular soggy bath rug and get these to rank on Amazon before BFCM using Amazon influencers!
