AI's latest SEO revelations | Ugly high-ticket store hacks
Hey Warrior, and welcome to March :-)
This week, we’re breaking down:
Why you need to model your competition
Big news in AI search optimization
Weekly challenge
Ecom trend
Let’s get started.
Growth Hack: Model the competition
Your website is a sales outlet, so small tweaks can make a big impact on your earnings. Instead of guessing what works, look at what top competitors in your niche are doing.
For example, I was looking at two “ugly”(don’t come for me!) high-ticket sites both with 22K monthly visitors, $1.5K AOV and found something interesting.

As you can see, sites in this niche design like it’s 1999:
phone number front and center
phone line open times clearly displayed
color blue seems popular
large fonts
bold product photos
This tells us something about the audience. Perhaps buyers of these products prefer to talk to a “real” person before buying. Understandable.
This also means that if you’re looking to get your mobility scooter store seen by customers searching for it in Google, you already know what colors, font sizes and language your target audience is likely to respond to.
If you haven’t got enough competitor stores to model, then use a tool like Stellar to quickly test what works and what doesn’t.

AI SEO: Brand mentions = more visibility
A new research study analyzing 40,000 AI search engine responses has uncovered critical information for any brand interested in showing up organically in ChatGPT/Perplexity/Gemini search results.
AI search engines feature brands mentioned by third-party publications more often than brands that aren’t.
As a Shopify store owner, this means that your SEO strategy shouldn’t only focus on on-page optimization. AI search engines (just like traditional search engines) also reward those backlinks, podcast mentions, and guest posts that are a pain to create. So create them.
Here’s what you need to do next:
Get featured on trusted sites. AI search engines favor high-quality sources like news sites, expert blogs, and authority review platforms.
Encourage more reviews. Get customer reviews/mentions (UGC) on platforms like Reddit, G2, and Medium to increase your chances of getting AI mentions.
Leverage video content. YouTube is a frequently cited source across AI search engines. If you don’t have video content for your brand, now’s the time to start.
SEO is evolving. The more mentions and references you have on third-party platforms, the better your chances of ranking in AI-driven search results.
Tip: One way to generate UGC is to get your products into the hands of influencers using minisocial, then ask them to post reviews as part of the deal.

🌱 Plant People achieved this two-in-one approach campaign with minisocial. They tapped into quality, on-brand micro-influencers to facilitate the touchpoints needed for conversions.

Weekly challenge: run a website comparison audit
This week, take 30 minutes to compare your website with 3-5 competitor sites.
What do they do differently?
What stands out as more engaging or effective?
What’s missing from your own site?
Then, pick one change to test. Small improvements can lead to big conversion gains.
Trending product: Magnesium flakes

Magnesium is a crucial mineral, but most adults don’t get enough. That’s why magnesium flakes (dissolvable bath salts made from magnesium chloride) are gaining serious traction in the wellness space.
This product is killing it because of:
Better absorption than pills. Magnesium baths provide direct skin absorption.
Multiple benefits. Users report less muscle pain, better sleep, and reduced stress.
Strong market demand. One brand is pulling in $300K+/month on Amazon alone.
How to jump on this trend:
Test magnesium flakes to your product lineup if you’re in wellness
Upsell with complementary products like bath soaks, relaxation teas, or sleep aids
If you want to try your hands at selling this product on Amazon, Levanta is a great place to start.
